Ejisu (Ash), Feb. 18, GNA- A Magistrate's court at Ejisu on Monday fined a 70-year-old landlady and her daughter who poured a bucket of water on a tenant's clothes and bedding in a bid to eject him for not paying an additional rent advance.

Akua Serwaah and her daughter Ama Serwaah who pleaded guilty to causing damage, were ordered to compensate the tenant, Kwabema Owusu-Ansah, with 300,000 cedis in addition to a fine of 200,000 cedis. The convicts will each serve four months in prison if they fail to pay the fine and the compensation.

Police Inspector Nkansa Twumasi Ankrah told the court that Owusu-Ansah, a carpenter, rented a room in the woman's house at Fumesua, near Ejisu.

Inspector Ankrah said Owusu-Ansah paid two million cedis rent advance covering a period of six years.

The Court heard that about four months ago, Akua Serwaah demanded 500,000 cedis from Owusu Ansah as additional rent advance in order to extend his occupancy.

On Febuary 14, this year at about 0630 hours, the woman went to Owusu-Ansah and asked him to quit the room for failing to pay the additional rent advance but he pleaded with her for more days. Inspector Ankrah said the woman turned down Owusu-Ansah's plea and insisted on throwing him out of the room.

He said an exchange of words ensued, attracting the woman's daughter to the scene.

The Court heard that Ama Serwaah rushed into Owusu-Ansah's room with a bucket of dirty water and poured out the water on his clothing and bedding.
