Koforidua, June 9, GNA - Nana Akesse Appiah III, ex-Kusihene and four

others who were arrested in connection with the death of a former Kusihen e, Nana Nketia Tenadu III and were on trial for murder have regained their freedom. This followed a report from the Attorney General's Department that there was no evidence to support a charge of murder The four others are Samuel Yaw Amponsah, Adamu Ofosu, Albert Antwi,

and Gyimah Malconi. Nana Appiah succeeded Nana Tenadu when the latter abdicated due to ill health. But on July 11, 2007, Nana Tenadu lost his life when he drowned in a

river. Allegations were made that the then Kusihene had conspired to murder

Nana Tenadu and were therefore arrested. They first appeared before the Kade District Magistrate Court and wer e later arraigned before the Osu District Magistrate court in Accra and the

case docket was sent to AG's Department for advice. The AG in a report to the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and copied to the OSU court said there wa s not enough evidence to support the charge of murder. The prosecution therefore withdrew the charge and the court presided

over by Mr Bart Plange Brew discharged the five accused persons. 0
