An Accra circuit court yesterday struck out the case involving Kwame Gyebi, the man who reportedly declared that former President Mahama would drop dead during the 2016 Independence Day parade.

The court, presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh, threw out the case for want of prosecution.

When it was called for hearing yesterday, neither the prosecutor, DSP George Amegah, nor the accused person was in court for the trial to continue.

It will be recalled that the court in October last year, issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Kwame Gyebi.

The order followed the absence of Gyebi in court, compelling the prosecution to request for a bench warrant, which was granted.

The court had granted the accused bail in April last year.

Gyebi, 33, had been charged with threat of death and offensive conduct.

He is alleged to have made the comment at a drinking spot at Dzworwulu in Accra.

He allegedly stated categorically that President Mahama would die on Independence Day and asked people to mark his words.

The matter was subsequently reported to the Airport police and Gyebi was busted.
