An Accra circuit court on Tuesday granted Daniel Adekui, a mason, and Paa Kwesi Amissah, a driver, to GH¢ 10,000 bail each with two sureties, one to be a public servant for robbery.

The accused persons are facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit robbery and possession of firearms without lawful authority.

Chief Inspector Isaac Agbemehia told the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri that the complainants in the case are personnel from the Armed Robbery Squad of the CID Headquarter.

He said on May 10 the police had intelligence that Daniel and his accomplices at Ablekumah were planning to embark on a robbery expedition in the Greater Accra Metropolis.

He said the police started mounting surveillance on the gang and on May 12 at about 2100 hours, Daniel was spotted on a motor bike operated by Paa Kwesi.

He said the surveillance team saw Daniel having holding a meeting with two others at a filling station around Agape.

The prosecution said, the team with the help of informants intercepted the accused persons at Lapaz and arrested them.

Chief Inspector Agbemehia said a German-made pistol was discovered on Daniel but he maintained that one Dida and Zenu gave him the weapon to sell and that he engaged the service of Paa Kwesi to transport him.
