Court grants trader bail for threat of death

Mankranso (Ash), July 16, GNA- The Mankranso Magistrate's Court on Tuesday granted bail to a 42-year-old trader who allegedly threatened to kill Nana Ntori Krah Boafo, the former chief of Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South district.

Kwaku John pleaded not guilty to the charge and causing damage to the chief's car.

He will re-appear on 20th July.

Police Chief Inspector Garl Michael Adjeng told the court that the accused lived at a house close to that of the former chief. He said on 26th January, this year, the accused picked a quarrel with the driver of the former chief, and when the ex-chief went to call his driver for them to travel to Kumasi, the accused called the chief "a fool".

Chief Inspector Adjeng said on their return from Kumasi at about 2230 hours the same day, the accused again carried the quarrel to the driver of the former chief and threatened to kill both of them.

He said the accused then took a stone and threw it at the driver but missed and the stone hit the car of the former chief damaging the windscreen valued at two million cedis.

Chief Inspector Adjeng said the former chief waited for sometime, expecting that the accused would come and settle the cost of the windscreen but he refused and instead insulted the former chief when he asked him to bear the cost of damage.

He said a report was made to the police and accused arrested.
