Ajumako (C/R), July 1, GNA - An Ajumako District Magistrate Court presided over by Mr Takyi Boakyi Enimile, has remanded four persons who attempted to dismantle a faulty grader machine into scraps in prison custody.
The remand was to enable the four; Amadu Ibrahim, an iron scrap dealer, Kwasi Ali and Kwasi Mohamed, both herbalist, and Kofi Adu, a driver to enable them to appear before a higher court in Cape Coast.
Their pleas were not taken.
The fifth person and leader of the group Kwaku Tiger, who managed to escape arrest, is being wanted by the police.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Maxwell Akorli told the court that on June 10 2008, a witness in the case whose name is being withheld for security reasons saw the accused persons at about 2300 hours dismantling the faulty machine.
He said the witness reported the incident to the police who went to effect the arrest the four, but Kwaku Tiger took to his heels. According to the prosecution, the grader belonging to GAB-Tay Construction Limited developed fault when it was being used to rehabilitate the Ebuame-Anomade road.
Chief Inspector Akorli said the gravity of the case required that a higher court above a Magistrate Court should handle it. 1 July 08
