Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Sept 09, GNA - The Manso-Nkwanta magistrate court has remanded the Gyasehene of Manso-Atwere in the Amansie West District for stealing.

Nana Kofi Mensah, 86, was alleged to have stolen three stools (Asesedwa) belonging to the Manso-Atwere stool.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and will re-appear on September 14. Police Inspector Anane Boamah told the court that following the death of the chief of Manso-Atwere, the Gyasehene became the custodian of all the eight stools.

Nana Mensah transferred the stools from the stool room to different rooms in his house without the consent of the stool elders.

Inspector Boamah said on August 13, a woman heard the accused discussing with an unknown person how he had transferred the stools and informed the Krontihene of the town, Nana Owusu Antwi.

The accused, Inspector Boamah said, denied taking the stools and the case was reported to the Manso-Nkwanta police who arrested him. During interrogation he admitted removing them and was consequently charged with the offence.
