Tema, Sept. 11, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court "B" has remanded a Rastafarian musician, who attempted to rape a 23-year old student at Lashibi.

Ekow Micah, aged 30, pleaded not guilty to the charge and will re-appear on September 16.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that on August 28, this year, Micah met the student, who is studying at the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) near her house, and proposed love to her.

Chief Inspector Gyamfi said the victim turned down the proposal, but while she was fast asleep in her room on the same day at 2330 hours, with the door unlocked, Micah sneaked into the room.

The prosecution said the accused person demanded to have sex with her. But when she refused, he attempted to force her. The prosecution said the student made a report to the Sakumono police early the next morning.

This led to the arrest of the accused person, who, after interrogation, was charged with the offence, Chief Inspector Gyamfi added.
