A driver at the VVIP Station in Accra was on Wednesday remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 15- year- old girl.

Ebenezer Adjei, charged with defilement, pleaded not guilty and is expected to reappear on September 17.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adiza Suleman told the court that the complainant is a trader residing at Lashibi and mother of the victim, while Adjei resides at Ofankor in Accra.

ASP Suleman said on July 30, the victim left home to Kwame Nkrumah Circle to look for her father when one Stephen a porter at the VVIP Station approached her and asked her where she was going.

While the victim was speaking to Stephen, Adjei sent Stephen on an errand and told the victim to wait for him inside the bus.

Prosecution said while in the bus, the victim asked whether Adjei was going to Kumasi. The victim then decided to go to Kumasi to look for her brother.

On reaching Kumasi all the passengers alighted from the bus, leaving the victim alone.

ASP Suleman said Adjei went to fetch water for the victim to take her bath and then went to buy condom after which he had sex with the victim.

During the act, the prosecutor said the victim requested for GH? 5.00 from the accused to buy credit card to call her brother.

Prosecution said the victim was loitering around and a taxi driver found her and sent her to Zongo Police Station where the complainant was contacted and she travelled to Kumasi for her daughter.

On August 8, a report was made to the Police and the victim was issued with a medical report to attend hospital for examination.

Later the accused was arrested.
