Mampong (Ash), Aug, 20, GNA - An Asante-Mampong Magistrate court, presided over by Miss Joyce Bamfo, has remanded into police custody, a 20-year old driver, for driving his articulator truck into the convoy of the First Lady, injuring four of her security detail.

Two vehicles in the convoy were wrecked.

Issa Mohammed's plea was not taken and would re-appear on Wednesday, August 25.

Counsel for the accused pleaded with the court to grant him bail but this was refused, after the prosecution had raised strong objection.

Police Detective Inspector, Patrick Asante said they are yet to complete their investigation and therefore releasing him on bail would be unhelpful.

Miss Bamfo asked that the police should speed up their investigation.

The wife of the President, Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, convoy, was on August 12 involved in accident at Aboantem, while on her way to Ejura to attend the annual Baptist Church's Ministers Wives Conference.

The four injured security men were treated at the Asante-Mampong Municipal Hospital.
