Court remands ex-postmaster for stealing

Nkawie (Ash), Oct. 12, GNA - The Atwima District magistrate's court at Nkawie on Wednesday remanded George Dapaah, a former Postmaster at the Nkawie Post Office for allegedly stealing 21.163 million cedis belonging to the Ghana Postal Service.

He pleaded guilty and will re-appear on October 15.

Police Inspector Ben Antwi told the court that an audit inspection team, which audited the accounts of the Nkawie Post Office on September 10, this year, detected a shortfall in the accounts.

He said, a report was made to the police who arrested the accused and after investigations charged him with the offence.
