Court remands man for allegedly raping ex-wife

Juaso (Ash), May 25, GNA - The Juaso Circuit Court has remanded in Prison Custody, a 27-year-old farmer who allegedly raped his ex-wife. Kwabena Wiredu, accused, pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and threat of death and will re-appear before the court in two weeks time.

Inspector L.K.Tsorhwe, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr. Jacob Boon that the accused and Akosua Asieduwaa the complainant lived formerly as a married couple and lived in the same village, Yirenkyikrom, after their divorce.

He said on May 13 this year, Asieduwaa and some friends went to the bush in search of cola-nuts but she took a different direction anticipating that she could fetch more there.

The accused wielding a sharp cutlass emerged from a thicket, all of a sudden, rushed on her and demanded to have sex with her. The prosecution said, the woman's screams for help attracted her friends to the scene but accused threatened to slash them into pieces if they did not leave, which they obliged fearing for their lives and he forcibly had sex with Asieduwaa.

Inspector Torhwe said Asieduwaa, reported the case to the Police at Kantaso, a nearby community and she was issued with a medical form for examination, which endorsed at the Juaso Hospital as having been raped.

The accused was arrested on May 17 with the help the community and handed over to the Police.
