Court remands mobile phone thief

A Cape Coast Circuit Court at the weekend remanded one Robert Sam, into police custody for stealing a Blackberry torch and an LG mobile phone worth GH¢5000.00.

The items belong to two students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

Sam who is a resident of Amamoma near the UCC pleaded not guilty and would be arraigned on Friday December 14.

Prosecuting Police Inspector Christina Sampong , told the court presided over by Mrs Florence Kai Otu that about 1810 hours on November 11, Sam managed to sneak into the room of Emmanuel Kwaku Botchway and Paul Agyare who are residents of a private hostel at Kwaprow near the UCC and stole the items and hid them in his pockets.

Inspt Sampong said Emmanuel and Paul later spotted the accused coming out of their room and when he was confronted he took to his heels and in the process threw the LG mobile phone into the bush.

She said the complainants gave him a hot chase and arrested him and managed to retrieve the blackberry torch and took him to the UCC police station.
