Court remands pregnant woman for causing harm

Akim Oda, Nov. 12, GNA - A thirty-two (32) year-old pregnant woman, Afua Agyeiwaa from Akyem Bieni in the Birim South District, has been remanded in Police Custody by the Akim Oda Magistrate Court, for burning the lips of her two step children. Agyeiwaa pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm. The Prosecutor, Police Chief Inspector John B. Arthur, told the Court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah, that the victims, Kwesi Asamoah, seven, and Kwame Adjei, four, were attacked with firewood at about 1630 hours of November 7, this year for allegedly stealing fish. He said the children were rushed to the Akim Achiase Health Centre with severe wounds. Police Inspector Arthur said the complainant, Mr Kwadwo Amoako, who is the uncle to the accused, reported the case Police, leading to her arrest.
