Tema, April 28, GNA - The Tema circuit court "B" has remanded a man who allegedly defiled a 10-year-old pupil "in an obscure corner" of the Community five Presbyterian Church.

Isaac Mensah, alias Nana Yaw, pleaded not guilty and will reappear on May 13, 2004.

Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that about 12 noon on May 18 2003, the mother of the victim who is a trader engaged the services of the accused to weed her selling place near the community five Presbyterian church.

She said while the accused was weeding, the woman sent her daughter to take a table to the place. It was when the girl got there that the accused lured her to an obscure corner behind one of the classrooms within the Presbyterian Church compound and forcibly had sex with her.

The accused reportedly used his shirt to cover the girl's mouth to prevent her from shouting and later warned her not to reveal to anyone. Chief Inspector Gyamfi said the victim who went home in tears, revealed her ordeal to her mother who lodged a report to police.
