Court remands teenager over robbery

A 19-year-old unemployed who attacked and robbed a student on his way to church, has been remanded by the Nkawie Circuit Court in the Atwima-Nwabiagya Municipality.

Razak Mohammed alias Kingsley Effah, together with two accomplices who are on the run, is said to have attacked Anthony Oppong Nimo, a 16-year-old student of the Nkawie Senior High Technical School, on his way to attend a church service.

He pleaded not guilty and would reappear in court in two weeks.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Ruth Gborson told the Court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey that on May 12 this year, at about 0900 hours Razak, together with his accomplices attacked and robbed the student of his mobile phone and inflicted scissors wounds on him.

He said on May 13, this year, the suspect was seen at Atwima-Agogo where he was arrested and upon investigations, he admitted the offence in his cautioned statement.
