Two persons who were said to have abetted, conspired and robbed one Enoch Kwarteng of his Toyota Corolla Taxi, were on Tuesday remanded into police custody by an Accra circuit court.

The two, David Amoah and Jacob Nyarko, were charged for conspiracy. David was also charged for robbery and Jacob for abettment.

They both pleaded not guilty to the charges and are to reappear before the court, presided over by Mr Ali Baba on September 2.

Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Acheampong, told the court that the complainant is a driver while the accused persons are traders residing at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

He said on August 12, at about 0100 hours, David and two accomplices, now at large, hired the services of the complainant who was in charge of a Toyota Corolla Taxi from Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Ridge.

The prosecution said on reaching Passport Office, David and his accomplices pulled out a knife, beat up the complainant and took away the taxi.

He said on August 15, at about 1230 hours, David and his accomplices resurfaced and again attempted to snatch another taxi at the same spot at Ridge, but David was arrested and handed over to the police.

DSP Acheampong told the court that David, in his caution statement, admitted having snatched a Toyota Matrix Taxi and handed it over to Jacob who gave them an initial amount of GH¢200.00.

He said David also admitted that he snatched a Toyota Corolla on August 12, together with two others, now at large, and handed it over to one Paa Yao, and received GH¢10,000.00 as part payment.

The prosecution told the court that the case was still under investigations.

The prosecution said the vehicles were yet to be retrieved and the accomplices yet to be arrested.
