Two members of a robbery gang who attacked a nurse working at the Suntreso Government Hospital, were on Wednesday remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Ali Ibrahim and Nana Kwame Boadi, together with two others on the run, carrying knives and a nylon rope, reportedly committed the crime on August 26.
They pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to rob and robbery and were ordered by the court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Ansah, to make their next appearance on Tuesday, September 29.
The victim, Ms. Ernestina Sarpong had closed from work at about 2030 hours and just as she was about to enter her Toyota Corolla saloon car, the accused emerged from nowhere and ordered that she surrendered the ignition key.
Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court that the lady gathered courage, shouted for help and that attracted the attention of passersby, who went to her aid.
The pair was seized with their knives and nylon rope before they could flee, but their other accomplices, Mohammed Zidan and Andy, managed to slip through.
The prosecution said they were later handed over to the Suntreso police and confessed to the offence in their caution statement.
They had refused to cooperate with the police to track down their fugitive colleagues and bring them to justice, Chief Inspector Akowuah added.
