Court remands two persons for robbery

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded two persons in police custody for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.

The accused persons, Isaac Botwey, an aluminum fabricator and Jude Gyadu, a mechanic pleaded not guilty and would reappear in court on May 24.

Meanwhile, the court has granted Emmanuel Saun, a Businessman, bail in the sum of GH? 30, 000 with two sureties, one of whom should be a public servant for dishonestly receiving.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector K. Adu, told the Court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the complainant in the case is a taxi driver.

He said on March 24 at about 0800 hours the complainant was driving his cab, on reaching the Atomic down roundabout, Isaac and Jude stopped him and hired his services to Kwabenya.

He said on reaching the place, the accused persons ordered him to stop and asked him to get down from the car with Isaac pulling a locally made pistol while Jude pulled a knife.

“They then pulled the complainant out of the car and sped off,” the Prosecutor said.

The Prosecution said the two accused persons, then called Emmanuel, who met them at Ofankor area and sold the car to him at the cost of GH? 40,000.

He said on April 14, Isaac and Jude went and robbed another taxi at Chelsea lodge at Kwabenya and were arrested by the police and during investigations it came light that, it was the same persons, who were involved in the earlier robbery of the other taxi cab.
