Kuntanase (Ash), Aug. 26, GNA - The Magistrate Court at Kuntanase on Thursday remanded a 30-year-old woman in prison custody for inflicting cutlass wounds on another woman and her four-month-old baby. Madam Akosua Agyeiwaa pleaded guilty and will re-appear on September 2, 2004.

Police Chief Inspector Edward Osei told the court that at about 2030 hours on June 5, 2004, the accused went to the house of Madam Akosua Serwaa and warned her not to allow her children to play with her (accused's) children because she (Madam Serwaa) had branded her a thief. This resulted in a quarrel and they were separated. Afterwards, there was a quarrel between Agyeiwaa's daughter and Madam Serwaa. During the quarrel, the accused pounced on Serwaa and inflicted cutlass wounds on her head and hands and also slashed the forehead of the baby.

Chief Inspector Osei said the victims were rushed to the Kuntanase Hospital.

In her defence, Agyeiwaa said her action was in self-defence since the complainant attacked her.
