The Juaso Circuit Court has sentenced a man linked to a robbery attack on a Chinese Construction Company, which left one person dead and three others injured, to 30 years imprisonment.

Usman Shaibu, together with two others currently on the run, had raided a camp built by the contractors, Chinese Jiang Su Jian Construction (CJJC) at Ananekrom in the Asante-Akim North District, in the night of May 2005.

He pleaded not guilty to the crime but the Court, presided over by Mr Fredrick Tetteh, ruled otherwise at the end of his trial.

Police Detective Inspector Thomas Obuor said the convict and his fugitive accomplices had shot and killed a security man on-duty, Kwaku Aniah, during the attack.

Three Chinese nationals, Han Xian, Gu Bau Rong and Su Xi, working with the company, were also badly wounded.

The prosecution said the robbers made off with cash in both local and foreign currencies - GH?1,900.00, US$40 and 800 Yuan.

The injured were first rushed to the Accident and Emergency Centre of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and later transferred to China for further treatment.

Detective Inspector Obuor said Shaibu was arrested following a tip off.
