Tema, Sept. 22, GNA - Nusah Salifu, butcher, has arrested a robber with a cow rope in an American cowboy fashion at Ashaiman.
Police Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) in-charge of Tema , who disclosed this to newsmen in Tema on Wednesday, said in the early hours of September 12, Salifu who was driving his taxi cab stopped near the Ashaiman main traffic light to buy tea. Inspector Nketia-Yeboah said a young man in his twenties suddenly shouldered or pushed him.
The PRO stated that when Salifu complained, another man, one Owusu, aged 23 years, held him at the back, hit him with a cutlass and threatened to kill him if he resisted them.
Inspector Nketia-Yeboah indicated that Owusu then picked an amount of three hundred thousand cedis from the pocket of Salifu and bolted with his accomplice.
The PRO said Salifu who is also a cowboy rushed to his vehicle took his cow rope and pursued the two suspects. Inspector Nketia-Yeboah said Salifu expertly threw the noose of the rope around the neck of Owusu in an American cowboy fashion to apprehend him.
The PRO stated that a passer-by, one Alhassan assisted Salifu to hand over Owusu to the Ashaiman Police.
Inspector Nketia-Yeboah indicated that the suspect has been charged with robbery and would soon be put before court for prosecution.
