Chief Insp. Chester said because Nii Amponsah was very old, he delegated the accused to administer affairs of the town to the displeasure of the complainants.

The prosecution said on August 12, this year, the accused hired a bulldozer and with the assistance of some land guards demolished a family house at Medie, which served as the palace, under the pretence of building a modern palace for the town.

Chief Insp. Chester said the demolition rendered the complainants and other family members homeless and reported the matter to the police at Amasaman.

The prosecution said in the morning of August 26, this year, the accused again assisted by thugs suspected to be youth from Nima and Amasaman Zongo, attacked and brutalised the complainants at a drinking spot where they had met with their clients to determine the cost of a parcel of land.

He said the complaints sustained injuries and lost GH?400 cash, a mobile phone valued at GH?85, a gold watch valued at GH?400 and a gold ring valued at GH?200 all totalling GH 1,110 in the attack.

Chief Insp. Chester said the complainants were rushed to Amasaman Government Hospital where they were treated and discharged. He said on September 2, the accused was arrested from his hide-out.
