The Head Pastor of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has described as “acts of jealousy” the avalanche of criticisms that followed his stomping of a lady during a deliverance session at his church.
According to the controversial pastor, the act was a direction from God, which has been misconstrued by some Ghanaians.
A recent video of Bishop Obinim stomping on a pregnant woman in an exorcism session went viral on social media and attracted a deluge of flak against him.
Christian groups in the country have jointly condemned him (Obinim) for the act.
“We are concerned about reports and incidents of religious excesses that have come to be associated with some ministers of God in Ghana in recent times.
“We condemn in no uncertain terms religious abuses such as pastors stomping on pregnant women,” the groups said in a joint statement.
However, in a reaction, Obinim told his congregation in a service broadcast on TV that his critics are merely jealous of his gift as an evangelist of God.
He denied claims that the lady in the video was pregnant as of the time she came to him for deliverance.
“There is jealousy in this world and some pastors who have no idea of what the issue is, are just jumping on radio stations and criticizing me”.
“What kind of jealousy is going on in this town. Won’t Ghana be better off if all pastors are being used like the way God is using me? If I were their relative, would they have spoken about me in that manner?” he wondered.
In his view, calls for his arrest over the incident is baseless and borne out of ignorance.
