The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey has asked all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies to cultivate a good maintenance culture.

The minister who was speaking at the handing over ceremony of 500 vehicles from Zoom lion to various MMDA’s across the country said, “Our dream of making our communities clean to a large extent depends on our behavioral change”

He charged all benefitting MMDA’s to put the equipment to its best use in order to keep the city clean.

“It is my expectation that you would put in place a maintenance plan to ensure that the vehicles are regularly maintained”.

According to him, the tendency for Ghanaians to dispose of waste indiscriminately and litter the environment requires effort of city managers to manage the waste generated especially at a time where Thirty-eight (38) new Assemblies have been added to the existing two hundred and sixteen, adding that the collection of waste and its proper disposal was in line with the presidents vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

“I appeal to all of us to change our attitude towards indiscriminate disposal of refuse if we are to achieve our dream” he added.
