Over fifty officers at the Customs Technical Services Bureau, which is the beginning of documentation for customs clearance, have been trained on the modern principles of classifying goods that are entering into the country, for purposes of establishing values and collecting taxes.
The refresher training which is facilitated by the technical support providers of the customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority is to sharpen the skills of the officers and also equip them to conduct their work professionally.
A former officer of the customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Emmanuel Impraim said there is the need for the importing public to be educated so they do not misclassify their goods.
He implored the officers to develop the level of integrity required for the execution of their job so as to generate the needed revenue for the state.
