Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West Constituency in the Central Region Cynthia Mamle Morrison has commissioned boreholes in three (3) communities of the Agona West Constituency as part of her twenty (20) boreholes Safe Water Campaign.

This gesture comes in to address the long water shortage that has existed in communities like Agona Samuel, Upper Bobikuma-Anchiase and Otsenkorang.

According to the MP, access to a clean and constant supply of water is essential for survival as it keeps the human body alive and functioning.

The Safe Water Campaign, she says has become necessary to address the acute water shortage in the selected communities.

The project was in collaboration with The DirectAid Society, an international Non-Governmental Organization, to help reduce water shortages at the selected societies.

Speaking at a ceremony to hand over the projects, country director for DirectAid Society Sami Henedak Ahmed, said it was their desire to provide boreholes for communities with water problems, because “water is life”.

He also appealed to the leadership of the communities to be responsible in using the facility to prolong its life span and uphold a maintenance culture.

Residents in the three communities expressed appreciation for the timely intervention and emphasized how they were previously left without option but to trek miles to access water from rivers that are fast drying up.

'With this borehole, we can have immediate access to potable water without traveling on foot for miles'.

In attendance, The Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan, Mr. Christopher Arthur, Director of Administration (Youth Employment Agency), Hon. Frederick Boateng ( Agona West NPP Youth Organiser), Hon. Ebenezer Kweku Arthur ( Agona West NPP Financial Secretary ) appreciated the space of development in all spheres of the Municipality.
