*The Graphic in its lead story reports that students of the University of Cape Coast are to pay fees ranging from 75,000 cedis to 212,000 cedis for the 1997/98 academic year. Fresh students for science/agriculture/science education, will pay the highest of 212,000 cedis while their continuing residential counterparts pay 135,000 cedis. The Graphic says the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah announced this at a news briefing at the univerisity yesterday. In a banner headline: "Cape Vars students to pay fees", the paper says the Pro-Vice Chancellor explained that fresh students for other courses will pay 162,000 cedis while continuing residential students for other courses will pay 85,000 cedis. Non-residential continuing science/agriculture/science education students will pay 125,000 cedis while continuing non-residential students offering other courses pay 75,000 cedis. GRI

"Church leaer remanded in custody", is the headline of another front page story in the Graphic which says the Leader of the Redemption Prayer Centre at Ofankor, near Accra, was yesterday remanded in custody by an Accra Circuit Tribunal on a charge of fraud. Reverend Esther Brodie-Mends, who is also a member of the Akweteman Pentecost Assembly, allegedly collected 1,900 dollars from a member of her prayer group under the pretext of securing an American Visa for her. The Graphic says the complainant, Patricia Asamoah's ordeal did not end there. She was compelled to join Rev Brodie-Mends at the prayer camp where she had to fast for two weeks without food or water. The Graphic reports on its back page that a 19-year-old porter, John Kwofie from Aiyinasi in the Western Region, has been arrested by the Police Striking Force for allegedly possessing human parts concealed in a black polythene bag. The paper says John was arrested at Kaneshie, after he had been lured to the place by an informant who wanted to hand him over to the Kaneshie Police. The Graphic says when the suspect realised that he had been tricked, he took to his heels, leaving behind the polythene bag which was found to contain two human skulls and other bones. GRI
