By Isaac Okyere, Kumasi

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Kwawoma district in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Tony Nyame, has insulted a journalist during the 28th Farmer’s Day celebration last week.

Kessben Fm, a Kumasi based radio station’s reporter Mr. Appau was chased by the DCE during the occasion held at Adangbame to prevent him from covering the event. The DCE said, he will not allow any Kessben Fm reporter to cover news on any occasion that he the DCE will coordinate within the district.

According to him, Kessben Fm broadcast a story about a missing new grader which was bought by the District Assembly a few months ago, which was allegedly said to be in the DCE’s house. Hon. Tony Nyame wanted to join the discussion aired on Kessben Fm to justify himself, but was prevented by the show producer. For this reason, Hon. Tony will not allow any reporter from this station to approach him or will never want to set eye on any of them.

When CITIZEN NEWS spoke to the show producer, she explained that, the DCE was prevented because, he was at the moment drunk and that she could not allow the DCE in that mood to go on air. She tried to explain everything to Hon. Tony but he couldn’t understand her.

However, Ali Baba a Kessben Fm presenter on another occasion on a program breaking news call the DCE to be interview following the chase away of their reporter.

Hon. Tony said he chased the reporter away, and that he will continue to ensure that no Kessben reporter comes near him. The presenter said, he did not have the right to chase any reporter away because it was a state function.

The DCE replied out of anger that “I thought you were calling to apologize, I didn’t know this stupid thing is what you are going to say”. He made a promise to report the presenter to his boss to get him fired.

Ali Baba replied that, “you did not employ me therefore you cannot teach me how to go by my job” The DCE again said, “You are stupid, silly, mad man, I don’t even know why I should continue (to) engage in argument with a fool like you”.
