Nsawam, Sept. 20, GNA - Mr Andrew Yaw Nyarko Adu, District Chief Executive for Akuapem South on Monday advised traditional healers and fetish priests to avoid laying claim to diseases they are incapable of curing just for monetary gains.

"Traditional healers and fetish priests should not be selfish and money conscious by trying to claim ability to cure every disease but rather they should advise their clients to go to hospital or refer the patients to any of their colleagues who can heal them."

Mr Nyarko Adu gave the advice when he inaugurated a seven-member executive committee for the African Healers Association at Nsawam in the Akuapem South District with Mr Massa Alowonu Adenyo as Chairman. Mr Nyarko Adu appealed to the members of the Association to pay their taxes to enable the Assembly to generate enough revenue for the development of the area.

Mr Adenyo advised herbalists and traditional birth attendants to register with the Association to enable them to attract its support in the performance of the work.

He said it was time for all herbalists to come together to fight against diseases in the country. The other members of the executive are Mallam Zita Deko, Vice-Chairman; Kwame Gyamfi, Secretary; Mrs Doris Agyakwah, Financial Secretary; Mr Abokyi Golo, Treasurer; Mr Kofi Kpofo, National Co-ordinator and Mr Afum Fuseini, Welfare Officer. 20 Sept. 05
