New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 3, GNA - Mr. Francis Dorpenyoh, the Adansi South District Chief Executive, has called for unity among the people of the district to enhance the rapid development of the area. He said no town or village could develop without peace and unity among the people.

That is why, Mr Dorpenyoh said, the people in the district need to bury their political ethnic and religious differences and focus on how to strengthen peace and unity among themselves to move the district which lagged behind in development to forge ahead.

He was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at New Edubiase after his confirmation recently.

"Though we cannot all belong to the same political party and tribe as well, what we should bear in mind is that before the advent of party politics, Ghanaians lived together as one people." Mr Dorpenyoh therefore appealed to the people to live together as one people and particularly asked traditional leaders in the area to see themselves as one people despite their ethnic differences and unite for their followers to emulate them.

He expressed his gratitude to President Kufuor for nominating him as the DCE for the district and thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him by confirming his nomination. Mr Dorpenyoh pledged to do his best to serve the district but not to be served and also promised not to do anything that would bring disgrace to the NPP government, chiefs in the area and the people.
