Mr Peter Light Koomson, District Chief Executive of Ajumako Enyan Essiam, has commended the chiefs and people of the area for their contribution towards a peaceful election on December 7.

He expressed his special gratitude to the District Election Task force, chaired by the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Seth Tay, for their performance.

Mr Koomson gave the commendation at the general meeting of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly on Friday where the assembly unanimously approved its 2013 Annual Composite Budget.

It also approved its procurement fund and annual action plans among others.

Mr Koomson said during the elections about 150 security personnel drawn from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and a detachment from the Ghana Armed Forces comprising 10 men and one officer were deployed to the 119 polling stations in the constituency.

He said the assembly provided support in the form of transportation, fuel and accommodation to the task force and thanked the heads of department for willingly releasing their vehicles to support the exercise.

Mr Koomson said due to the support, the district did not record any problem such as late arrival of electoral materials and personnel to the polling stations or delays in the voting process as it happened in some constituencies.

He said: “This credit goes to all of us for working together to bring about peace which is vital for our development as a people. We will continue to work towards maintaining peace and order in the district”.
