Kokooso (B/A) March 5 GNA - The Asunafo District Chief Executive, Mr. George Yaw Boakye has cut the sod to commission a 120 million-cedis mosque complex for the Muslim community at Kokooso in the district. The Islamic Council for Development and Humanitarian Services provided funds for the project.

Mr. Boakye urged Muslim youth to uphold the principles of honesty and peace and pursue formal education.

As Muslims you must uphold the dignity of Islam and avoid acts that have the potential to cast a slur on the revered image of the religion, he advised.

"The most appreciable manner in which Muslims can prove their critics wrong and make valuable contributions to Ghana's development is to translate the contents of the Holy Quran into deeds".

The DCE appealed to Muslims to discard the traditional definition of families where wealth was counted in terms of the number of children one had and rather focus on what level of empowerment families could give to their children.

Alhaji Habib, Imam of Mim, who presided noted, that Ghana's democracy could become more enviable and a source of experience to other African countries "if we build our political culture with emphasis on political and religious tolerance".

He appealed to Muslims in the district to register when the voters' registration starts.
