DCE-designate pledges to pursue "open door" policy,

Hohoe, May 20, GNA - Mr. John Peter Amewu, the President's nominee for the position of Hohoe District Chief Executive (DCE) on Friday expressed his deepest gratitude to the President for nominating him. He thanked President Kufuor for the confidence reposed in him, saying it was "a call to serve the people of the district and mother Ghana".

Mr. Amewu who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Hohoe, said if approved, he would pursue an open door policy.

He said he would work with all, irrespective of political or religious affiliation colour, creed or race, in the implementation of policies to raise living standards in the district. Mr. Amewu promised to pursue a developmental agenda in line with government's aspirations and special focus on education, health and private sector development.

He pledged to improve and repackage the varied tourism potentials of the district and market it to the world, while enhancing revenue generation and mobilization.

He said general infrastructure development, including roads and school structures, would be among his priorities, adding that he would accord equal opportunities to all communities.

Mr. Amewu holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana after his first degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi.
