Kwabeng (Ash), March 19, GNA - Dr. Lord Justice Gyamfi-Fenteng, the District Chief Executive for Asante-Akim South, has inspected rehabilitation work on one of the roads that links the district to the Eastern Region.

The Seven-kilometre road from Kwabeng to Amuana-Praso in the Eastern Region has not been motorable for several years, forcing residents who are virtually separated from the Eastern region by the River Pra to cover over 20 kilometres before having access to the Eastern region.

The project, which is being funded by the Dutch Government is expected to be completed in four months time. Dr. Gyamfi-Fenteng expressed satisfaction on the progress of work and urged the contractors to ensure that the work would be completed within the stipulated time.

Interacting with the chiefs and people of Kwabeng later, the DCE assured them of more development projects and called on them to be law-abiding and pay their taxes regularly.

He said government was committed to the well-being of the people, calling on them to rally behind it as it puts pragmatic measures in place to improve the living standard of Ghanaians. He entreated them to patronise the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), saying, those in the rural areas stood to benefit most from the scheme.

Nana Kwabena Tuffour, chief of Kwabeng commended the government for coming to their rescue by rehabilitating the Kwabeng-Amuana-Praso road after several years of neglect.

He said not only would the construction of the road facilitate smooth transportation in the area but also boost economic activities since they could easily find market for their farm produce in the Eastern Region.
