DCE lauds donations towards Farmers' Day

Tue, 1 Dec 1998 Source: --

Winneba (Central Region) 1 Dec '98 - The District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya district, Lieutenant Daniel William Osardu, has lauded various organisations and individuals for donating towards this year's National Farmers' Day. He described them as ''a major source of inspiration and encouragement'' to the government and the entire nation, adding that they show the level of concern both local and foreign investors as well as individual citizens have for the country's hard-working farmers and fishermen. Lt Osardu was addressing bankers and a group of industrialists at a ceremony at which two organisations in the district donated items worth more than two million cedis to the district assembly towards the forthcoming National Farmers' Day in the district. The items, including a bicycle, 12 pairs of Wellington boots, five buckets of ''biozymepp'' natural plant growth regulator, and a cash of 500,000 cedis, were presented by the Awutu Emesa Rural Bank and DAGX Agro-Fama, a private agricultural industrial company, both in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district. This brings to three the number of organisations which have so far contributed in kind and in cash towards the Day in the district. Last Friday, the Awutu Bawjiase area rural bank donated sewing machines and cash totalling about two million cedis to the assembly.
