The District Chief Executive for Golokwati, Angela Tay, has offered a helping hand to a 13-year-old child trafficking victim who is currently languishing on the streets of Accra.

Bismark Ametor arrived last month from Dawhenya- a town at the outskirt of the Greater Accra region- where he could no longer endure the torture and abuse his traffickers subjected him to.

But life in Accra has not been easy as he expected; as he now uses the Opeibea bus stop at 37 as his new home.

The plight of the poor boy has also been worsened by a near-fatal accident he was involved in while begging on the streets of Accra.

Recounting his ordeal to Starr News, Bismark Ametor said his aim is to be reunited with his family. “I was staying with my mother at Golokwati in the Volta region, but some woman came for me and brought me to Dawhenya and she really maltreated me there.

“I did all the work in the house…I wash the bowls, pluck bananas and then go and search for firewood. But she was treating me very bad…she will always beat me, so I run away to Accra."

Bismark Ametor who only takes his bath once a week narrated that he begged a trotro mate to make his way to the capital city.

“I told the mate that I was coming to Accra. I sleep at the roadside around Opeibea [Airport]."

Angela Tay is now working with the Police to rescue the boy and reunite him with his family.
