Akim Swedru (E/R), Sept 12, GNA - Nana Baffour Mensah, Birim South District Chief Executive (DCE) has called on members of the Urban Councils and Unit Committees to assist the Assembly to generate revenue to promote the development of the area.

He said members could facilitate the process by making proposals to enhance the collection of levies and other revenue.

Nana Mensah made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Akim Swedru in the Eastern Region on Monday.

He noted that the Urban Council and Unit Committee members were expected to be the focal points for constructive discussions, articulate the people's concern and make recommendations to the Assembly.

The DCE noted that it is only when the District Assembly, Urban Council and Unit Committee members rise, that they could propagate the government's 93Better Ghana Agenda", which sought among other things to improve on the lot of the people.

Nana Takyi asked the Assembly members, Councillors and Unit Committee members to help identify the needs of the people in their communities to be addressed by the Assembly.

In a related development, Nana Takyi has closed a three-day workshop organised by the Assembly at Akim Swedru for Urban Council and Unit Committee members.
