DCE urges farmers to use cocoa season to pay premium on NHIS

Anwona (Ash), Dec 19, GNA - A District Chief Executive has appealed to cocoa farmers who have still not registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have been urged to register with the scheme and also pay up their premiums. Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, the District Chief Executive for Adansi North, said this when he visited some cocoa farming communities as part of his tour of the district. The communities included Anwona, Mensahkrom, Biakwaso, Aboabo and Nsokote.

Anwona (Ash), Dec 19, GNA - A District Chief Executive has appealed to cocoa farmers who have still not registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have been urged to register with the scheme and also pay up their premiums. Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, the District Chief Executive for Adansi North, said this when he visited some cocoa farming communities as part of his tour of the district. The communities included Anwona, Mensahkrom, Biakwaso, Aboabo and Nsokote. Mr Ameyaw stressed the importance of NHIS and appealed to the people to embrace it. The DCE commended the people of Anwona for registering with the scheme and paid up their premiums. Mr Ameyaw said there was no point for anybody to be pessimistic about the NHIS since it was an idea aimed at improving access to health care at affordable cost. The DCE appealed to the communities to support the government and also exercise patience since the benefits of the government policies had started bearing fruits. "The government is doing whatever it can to improve the economy of the country and what is left is for us to work hard and also pay our taxes", he stressed.
