The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it is more committed to ensuring the development and survival of the country' process than any other political party.
The party said it will, therefore, not engage in any acts that would undermine distort its internationally acclaimed credibility and the country's virile democratic system.
The General Secretary of the NDC, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, said this at a news conference in Accra yesterday in reaction to reports carried by two Accra private newspapers alleging that boxes containing voters register with pictures of President Rawlings had been discovered by some youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) behind the mortuary of the Tema General Hospital.
Alhaji Yahaya described the story as a calculated attempt by the opposition parties and their collaborators in the media to condition the minds of the electorate in a negative light toward the NDC.
"Such absurd publications by these stock-in-trade is to run down the party as part of intrigues lined up for them by their principals during the electioneering campaign will come to nothing," According to Alhaji Yahaya, the Electoral Commission (EC), since its formation, has put in place a number of measures to demystify the electoral process.
This includes the provision of voters registers to the various political parties and interest groups in the country and the supply of computers to enable them to store information in the register.
