DCVE advises farmers

Ochinso-Amanfrom, July 25, GNA - Mr Yaw Yiadom Boakye, Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive on Friday advised farmers in the rural areas to embrace modern and scientific methods of farming which help to improve and increase their output to earn them more income raise their standard of living and assist in the socio-economic advancement of the country. Mr Yiadom Boakye said this when addressing farmers at Ochinso-Amanfrom, a rural community near Kade in the Kwaebibirem District.

He said this when educating the people on the importance of Hi-tech programme being introduced to cocoa farmers in rural areas by the government.

The DCE said the new programme would assist the farmers in the quality and output and therefore urged the people to fully embrace it. He said the district had so far distributed 6,000 bags of fertilizers to farmers in the area for that exercise.

Mr Yiadom Boakye said the mass cocoa spraying exercise would be re-introduced soon and the necessary logistics would be provided to the farmers to make it successful.

He used the occasion to advise the people to send their children to school, adding that the government regards the agricultural and educational sectors as priority areas. He also advised the people to pay their taxes regularly to develop the area.

He assured the people that the government and the assembly would assist them to solve their problems concerning their roads, schools and other infrastructure.

Nana Kwabena Akyeampong , Gyasehene of the town, on behalf of the people thanked the government and the assembly for the assistance for the rehabilitation of the road to the area, the provision made for the roofing of the schools in the area and other social amenities put in place.
