DFW NPP Chairman Report

Mr. Chairman, Interim executives, DFW citizens, and fellow Kukrudus, I am delighted and honored to deliver the first DFW NPP Chairman’s report. The DFW Chapter began about 6 months ago, when I contacted the predecessor before our Honorable chairman. I had always wanted to help my motherland Ghana, with the skills and work ethics I have acquired up to this time of my life. I believe I learned this from my parents, Dr. and Mrs. B.A. Mensah. When I was a young boy, I always wanted to serve my country like my dad’s friends - Dr. K.A. Busia, Ghana’s Prime Minister in the 2nd republic, Imoro Egala, Jato Kaleo, Kwesi Lamptey and others. Since my childhood days I knew this is what I wanted to do, to bring democracy, peace and elevate the standard of living of Ghanaians, the people and country I so dearly cherish and love.

After doing an extensive study and research on the North American NPP Organization, I contacted Mr. Mohammed Idris, the former Chairman. He mentioned Rex Poku’s name and gave me his phone number. I contacted Rex, who was also pondering about starting the DFW chapter. With a common goal, we contacted the interim executives to start the DFW chapter.

I met Mr. Rex Poku for the first time during a meeting that was held at my residence in Justin, Texas. The discussion was very much encouraging. Prior to our face to face meeting I had numerous conference calls with Rex and many Ghanaians who are interested in what NPP stands for. At that time our main goal was to come up with a strategy on how to get the chapter on its feet, which we’ve been able to accomplish by God’s grace. With your support and participation I believe we’ll be able to meet the numerous challenges that we face and may encounter in the future.

Our goal is to align the chapter to the National organization under the able leadership of Mr. Kofi Boateng (also know as Kofi ROPA). As at now our short term goal is to increase membership of this chapter to at least 60 by the end of the year 2006. A member of NPP is someone who participates in meetings, pays dues, and also is a card holding person of the North American NPP, and is prepared to use all resources available to him or her for the cause of NPP. In early September this year 2006, a former national executive, Mr. Jermaine Nkrumah from the Houston chapter inaugurated the DFW chapter. The chapter has always been represented in all gatherings and meetings since June of this year. Not only was the DFW chapter present at the signing ceremony of the $547 million MCA grant to Ghana, but also, we were represented at the just ended congress in Virginia. We have been able to meet and discuss pertinent issues concerning our motherland Ghana in the presence of the following dignitaries - The President of Ghana, His Excellency John Kuffour, the Foreign Minister of Ghana, his Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo, and Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and others. I’m not going to take much of your time, but I want you to know that the goal of this North American organization which includes DFW is to do whatever resources available to us to keep the party which has given Ghana its true freedom, the rule of law, and empowered its citizens to exercise their God-given freedom by giving the citizens of Ghana the opportunity to be all they can be to stay in power. I believe we’ve made some mistakes, however, we have learned our lessons. We promise not to sit down for power to go back to the opposition who was at the helm of Ghana for decades and was unable to achieve anything worthwhile for Ghanaians.

Since we do not have the votes at this time, our financial contributions and support in various ways for our party will go a long way to keep NPP in power. I believe that, together we can come up with a strategy to achieve this goal. With your help we the Dallas/Ft. Worth chapter can get it done and we will also be heard and known in Kokomlemele.
