The Ministry of Local Government has responded to calls by the Minority in Parliament for the cost of equipment procured under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
The Ministry in a letter sighted by MyNewsGh.com disclosed that the procurement was done by the Office of the District Assemblies Common Fund and the Office of the Chief of Staff.
It, therefore, directed that all enquiries about the cost of the equipment must be channeled to those offices as far as the processes were concerned.
DRIP was launched by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on July 31, 2024.

Today, 31 July 2024, marks a significant milestone in our nation’s journey towards infrastructural development. I launched the District Road Improvement Programme. This initiative is a testament to the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Government’s commitment to decentralizing development and ensuring that every corner of Ghana benefits from progress and prosperity.
I announced the commissioning of an impressive fleet of 2,240 essential equipment, including motor graders, backhoes, rollers, and more. These tools are not just machinery; they are instruments of change and symbols of our dedication to improving the lives of all Ghanaians.
Road infrastructure is the backbone of our economic growth and social development. By improving our road networks, we are enhancing connectivity, boosting economic activities, and improving the quality of life for countless Ghanaians. Since 2017, we have completed over 12,830 kilometers of roads and added six interchanges, a remarkable achievement compared to the previous administration.
