A Human Rights court on Tuesday struck out an application for the re-instatement of DSP Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda, the woman at the centre of the cocaine-turned baking soda saga, into the Police Service.

DSP Tehoda was unconditionally acquitted and discharged for lack of evidence in June this year.

She had been detained by the BNI over her alleged role in the disappearance of some cocaine exhibits in court.

The Police service argues that DSP Tehoda can only be re-instated after an internal Police enquiry is completed.

But her lawyers counter-argue that her fundamental human right has been curtailed.

Trial Judge Justice Cecil Mensah however stated that a motion filed by the lawyers of DSP Tehoda failed to indicate that her fundamental human rights have been infringed upon.

The lawyers withdrew the application for Mrs. Tehoda’s reinstatement with the liberty to re-apply.

One of her Lawyers, E.A. Vordoagu in an interview with XYZ News said a new application for Mrs. Tehoda's re-instatement will be filed as soon as possible.
