Daasebre off to Chile

Accra, Feb. 15, GNA - Daasebre Professor Emeritus Oti Boateng, Omanhene of New Juaben, left Accra at the weekend for New York en route, Santiago, Chile, to attend the 70th session of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) of the United Nations.

Daasebre Oti Boateng, who has been on the Commission since 2003 will join 14 other Commissioners from across the globe, who were all appointed by the General Assembly of the UN in their personal capacity as individuals of recognized competence who have substantial experience of executive responsibility in public administration or related field, particularly in=

personnel management.

A statement signed by Alhaji Razak El-Alawa, Chief Executive Officer= of Elzak Media Consult, said the UN Statute established the ICSC for the regulation and co-ordination of the conditions of service of the United Nations Common System. It said Daasebre Oti Boateng who is the President of the Eastern Regional House Chiefs had made significant contributions to the Commission's deliberations since becoming a member of the ICSC in 2003, among which was the review and liberalization of the common system allowances and benefits. Some of the topics to be discussed at the Santiago session include the harmonization of conditions of service; review of conditions of service of the United Nations Secretariat/internationally recruited staff serving in non-family duty stations.

Others are conditions of service applicable to both categories of sta= ff, conditions of service of the professional and higher categories and the conditions of service of the General Service and locally recruited staff.
