Accra, May 16, GNA - Dr Francis N.A Sowah, Senior Lecturer, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has filed his nomination papers to contest the NPP primary for Dadekotopon against the incumbent MP, Mr Ago Nai, towards the December elections.
Speaking to the GNA at the weekend in Accra, he said his decision to contest the NPP slot in this year's election was the result of persistent calls on him by elders, opinion leaders, friends and the youth of the area to do so.
"As a citizen of La and more so a royal, I cannot sit unconcerned for my dear town to deteriorate," He said, adding that, "I have not seen any significant change in La for sometime now".
Dr Sowah, who is a Lawyer attended the University of Ghana and obtained his Masters (LLM) and Doctorate (PhD) degrees from the University of London, School of Economics and Political Science. He said he had been contributing regularly to the party's activities and that he actively supported the work of the interim re-organisation team through whose efforts that the NPP won the seat for the first time 2000.
The parliamentary aspirant, who also took part in monitoring the recent voter registration exercise, said he would implement an educational plan under which every basic school in the constituency would be provided with, at least, five computers. It is also his plan to institute a scholarship scheme for brilliant students in the community.
Dr Sowah, who had his primary education at La 'Wireless One' and attended St Paul's Middle School, said: "I have abandoned my lucrative law practice in the U.S to help reverse the sorry state of La". He promised to help find a lasting solution to the chieftaincy disputes in the area when given the chance to represent the people.
