Dagbon Forum demands apology from TV3 journalist for ‘disrespecting’ Ya Naa Abukari II

A group known as the Dagbon Forum, is demanding an apology from TV3 journalist, Komla Klutse for “disrespecting” Ya Naa Abukari II.

Komla Klutse who interviewed the Overlord of the Dagbon state at the Gbewaa Palace shortly after his coronation on various subjects, also questioned his sense of fashion.

"I've just realised he's wearing a Rolex watch. It's an expensive and a beautiful watch. I want to find out, does he have a taste for finesse? I saw yesterday in the video, when he saw his Jaguar he smiled, he was happy. Does he have a taste for finesse and also was it his specific request that he should be given a Jaguar?" the journalist enquired.

Members of the Dagbon Forum, who are unhappy with the utterances made by the journalist, accused him of being unethical throughout the interview and his choice of questions and actions unacceptable and condemnable.

According to a statement signed by President of the group, the “Dagbon Forum condemns in no uncertain terms the gross display of disrespect shown by Komla Klutse of TV3 , when he interviewed Ya Naa Abukari II, at the Gbewaa Palace after the highly successful and historic coronation, on Saturday 26th January 2019.”

“Komla repeatedly asked the King if he had taste for finesse as shown in his reaction upon seeing the Jaguar car donated by the Government, for the first time. He went further to hold the King’s hand, with emphasis on the Rolex watch he was wearing, again repeating the issue of his love for finesse,” the communique stated.

The group further called for the removal of the footage which was recorded in-camera from all media platforms and cautioned journalists to be “more circumspect and decorous” in their future interactions with the King of the Dagbon Kingdom.
