"Government can't attain proposed inflation rate, says consultant", is the headline on the centre spread of the Graphic. The paper says the consultant, Mr. Kwamena Essilfie Adjaye, called attention to the fact that although the government had targeted an inflation rate of 15 per cent for 1997, it achieved 20.8 per cent and argued that when this year's target of 9.5 per cent is related to other targets which impact on inflation, it is difficult to see how that rate can be realised. In another centre spread story, the Graphic says seven out of the nine contractors undertaking road maintenance works in the Volta Region, failed to appear at the agreed sites to give a briefing on the progress of work during an inspection tour by the Deputy minister and technocrats of the Ministry of Roads and Transport at the weekend.

"The Keta sea defence wall project...Firm to refund 1.5 billion cedis", is the banner headline of the Graphic. The story says the government has directed that Pentrexx Ghana Limited and its Managing Director, Mr Atta Owusu-Ansah, should refund 1,529,817,783.17 cedis being over payment for demolition works on the Keta Sea Defence Project.

The Graphic in an inside page story says the Tema branch of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), has entered into an agreement with the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Electricty Company of Ghana (ECG) under which industrial establishments in the Municipality would have four days of uninterrupted power at a proposed rate.
