The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has challenged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over their assertion that the audio containing the alleged conversation between the Attorney-General, Godfred Dame, and businessman, Richard Jakpa, was doctored.

He criticized the NPP's response coming from their lawyer, Frank Davies, as weak and wishy-washy.

To support his claim, he questioned why neither the Attorney-General, his spokesperson, nor his office had not responded to the tape despite being active in the media.

He also dared the NPP to identify which parts of the audio recording were doctored.

Speaking on NewsFile on JoyNews, as monitored by GhanaWeb, Sammy Gyamfi stated, "You don't have any locus in law to even say the tape is doctored because what you are saying is total hearsay. You were not on that phone call. The person who was on that phone call is Mr Dame, who is very vibrant in the media. Neither Mr Dame nor his spokesperson, my good friend Wilberforce, has been able since we published this... he has not been able, on any media platform, to say the tape was doctored.

"The office of the Attorney General has not been able to even say the tape has was doctored so that wishy-washy response is very weak, we can't work with it."

The NDC Communications Officer further said, "You said that parts have been pieced together. Which parts have been pieced together? Show us.... There was no part of the tape we put out which was repeated."

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, the NPP stated that the audio containing the alleged conversation between the Attorney-General Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa was doctored to tarnish the former's reputation.

The Attorney-General has faced severe criticism, with calls for his resignation growing.

According to the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the tape confirms that Godfred Dame had tried to make Richard Jakpa implicate the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, in the ambulance case, and the audio serves as evidence.

During the trial last week, Jakpa claimed that the Attorney-General had approached him to help build a case against the former Deputy Minister of Finance.
