Amanfro Akuapem, (E/R), Aug 7, GNA- Mr Dan Kwaku Botwe, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Okere constituency in the Eastern Region, has predicted a landslide victory for NPP in the 2008 Election.
He said his recent tour of the northern part of the country with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP flag bearer, proved that the party was solid on the ground and would retain power in December 7. Mr Botwe made the prediction when he addressed NPP polling station executives from the Okere constituency at separate meetings at Amanfro, Nkyenoa, Asifaw, Aseseeso, Abonse and Akuni in the region. He said the party's determination to retain power could not be achieved on a silver platter and urged all party executives at the grassroots and national level to work harder and avoid complacency. Mr Botwe said the party would conduct a clean campaign devoid of insults, acrimony and unnecessary allegations which could disturb the peace the country.
He advised supporters of all political parties not to allow politics to create enmity among them because they were one people with a common destiny.
Mr Botwe urged NPP supporters to work hard and propagate the achievements of the government and said Ghana would attain middle level income status and every Ghanaian would be happy under the leadership of the NPP in the next eight years. He visited some registration centres in the region and expressed concerned about problems associated with the exercise in some parts of the country.
He commended the people of Okere for the peaceful manner they were conducting themselves in the exercise and urged them to do same in the general elections. Mr Botwe appealed to the Electoral Commission to ensure free and fair elections to help sustain the peace and stability of the country.
